The stereotype of the magnanimous, kind, white father figure is definitely racist. It needs to be eliminated.

DOE is not allowed to set curriculum standards for states or districts. That’s illegal. Check out Diane Ravitch. She’s the expert on that. The feds do research, can enforce civil rights protections and support programs like Head Start and school lunches, and are involved in loan programs for higher ed, but not curriculum standards.

They are threatening to withhold federal funds for "DEI" and vaccine requirements and more and unfortunately many under-resourced K-12 districts may feel they must comply and overcomply, affecting curriculum and instruction--especially as COVID funds have dried up.

I follow Indivisible Upstate, Tell Them Tuesdays, Democratic Women of Greenville. This protest was organized pretty quickly, through the 50501 group. We also started a Red, Wine and Blue Greenville chapter, Together Greenville, if you want to join!
