And they’re almost always white men. Gives me the ick…and I’m a white man, myself.

Ahh thank you so much for mentioning our book! If you decide to use it, please let me know - I'm not sure Roxane will be free, but I'd be glad to try to Zoom in!

That'd be great!! We're thinking end of July. If you do a book tour, M. Judson is our woman-owned independent bookstore in downtown Greenville :).

Wow. I love this. Thank goodness there are women like you in SC. I'm in NC now; came down from DC metro. We're working hard here in NC, too, for pro-democracy, pro-voter, pro-women and children change. I have a book to suggest: The Politics Industry. It's an easy to read explainer of the ecosystem that has grown up around our "governance system" -- lobbyists, oligarchs, corrupt go along to get along politicians, the media -- and it offers ways to make the system more competitive through electoral and legislative reforms. It's also full of citations, so more depth than the 174 pages if people want to dig deeper. I'm with Better Ballot NC. We're both in "resist" states. Ranked choice voting is a lever for change that would help us achieve reforms that are a heavier lift. After this election is over, consider looking into https://www.betterballotsc.org

Thanks, I’ll check it out! And completely agree about ranked choice voting.

I feel your pain! I’m also in SC & for my state senator, I had to try and figure out which of the 3 white guys who “love Jesus & want to battle socialism”🙄 would be the least harmful in the event that one of them beats the amazing Democratic incumbent in November. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen.

Now we have a runoff for county sheriff between a decent guy & someone who was in DC on Jan 6 and is being backed by the local GOP. Ugh!😤

Mediocre is a great read! It gave me a lot of insight into just how much fear, insecurity, and grievance drive crappy male behaviors.

Here’s hoping for the best possible outcomes in the runoffs & the election. 🤞

Thank you for all that you share in this newsletter- it helps to know that we’re not all standing alone.

Thanks! And thanks for reading. Fingers crossed for you for the sheriff... nothing like electing a law breaker to enforce laws.... sigh.
