SC Senator Richard Cash Wants the State to Murder Women
And other fun things white men in the Palmetto State are up to
I know the firehose of absolute horror coming out of Washington right now is a lot to handle, so let’s take a little break and discuss the shitshow right here in our own state, where the SC Republican men in our legislature (oh wait, it goes without saying that they’re almost all men, LOL) are really, really excited that their tech bro superhero overlords say it’s ok for them to do the racisms, too.
Seriously, these pick me try hards seem to have no ability to think for themselves, or even acknowledge/consider that they represent more than just white, straight, conservative men. The Post and Courier reported today that they want to do a little mini fascism right here in the Palmetto State and outlaw DEI, you know, really get back to those Confederate roots they’ve all been pining for. Our Attorney General, Herr Alan Wilson, wants to come after Costco for refusing to eliminate their DEI practices and policies, and now with Pam Bondi instructing the DOJ to CRIMINALLY PROSECUTE companies with DEI practices, he’ll really have the wind at his back.
Doesn’t his face just say, love me Elon, love me!
Wilson also wants to weaponize all of our county sheriff departments to aid and assist ICE with its cruel (and crushingly expensive) mission to break up families and remove invaluable workers from our state economy, encouraging the departments to sign up for the 287 (g) program. When he found out that groups were organizing to protest ICE in the state, he sent out a strongly-worded statement than any protestors would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He must have felt the ghost of the Constitution whispering in his ear, because he slightly qualified it with, of course you have the right to protest, but sure is some scary shit when the attorney general with the full blessing of the federal government turns the power of the state on its citizens.
Speaking of weaponizing the power of the state to terrorize, torture and kill women, state Senator Richard Cash out of Anderson (right next door to Greenville) must have some kind of abortion abolition complex (this is the phrase used to describe anti-abortion folks that think: abortion is murder, having one makes you a murderer, so you should be tried and executed if you have one). Usually it’s Representative Rob Harris who is the most murder-y of women (he’s introduced legislation MULTIPLE times to enact the death penalty against people that have abortions). Not to be outdone, Senator Cash yesterday introduced a NIGHTMARE anti-abortion superbill that would subject women who have abortions to the death penalty, outlaw contraception, make it a crime to help a minor to get an abortion, take away all exceptions including for rape and incest, and make it a FELONY to even talk about abortion. This nice-looking man also wants women who are miscarrying to be forced to have a c-section or deliver their non-viable fetus instead of having an abortion. Don't be fooled, this bill is a way to terrify, torture and kill women. Absolutely horrifying.
Jessica Valenti is one of the first to report on so much abortion news, make sure you subscribe to .
The kill-women bills aren’t super likely to pass (who knows these days?!) but they do serve to make the other anti-abortion bills up for consideration look more humane (because they’re “just” total abortion bans). With a Republican supermajority in the state legislature, and no Republican women in the state Senate, there are few checks on insane bills getting through.
All this to say: the women of Cash and Harris’s district need to understand what total misogynists they are, and we need to really put our time and energy into local and state-level campaigns. The margins in primaries and even general elections is so often so small, that what we start now can make a difference.
What a kind, smiling face to picture on your way to the execution chamber, amirite ladies?
To that end, if you’re local, please sign up for our Red, Wine and Blue chapter (Together Greenville), and join us on February 15th for an informal gathering as we decide on our chapter’s goals, leadership and priorities. Everyone who’s coming so far is fabulous—it’ll be fun and we’ll get to turn some of this despair and anger into action. We can make a difference in our communities and our state—so many of us here do not agree or support these far-right MAGAites that happily delight in the suffering and pain of others. This is not the world we want, let’s fight to make sure these mediocre white men don’t get their way.

Thank you for speaking truth to power!
Don't these men, who obviously suffer an inferiority when faced by an educated and confident woman, know they were all conceived female and rejected by their God who made them into men as second best choice!
