One of my favorite shows this year was Minx, on HBO. Set in the 1970s, an idealistic young writer pursues her dream of publishing a feminist magazine only to face rejection after rejection by the male-dominated industry. The hilarity ensues when the only one to agree to publish her work is a pornographer in California. Highly recommend for the hot sex scenes, feminist commentary on media and representation, and the styling costumes and sets.
I was thinking about the show yesterday because Ms. Magazine, the first national feminist magazine (founded in 1971 by Gloria Steinem and others) published my first national piece. It’s a reworking of my newsletter on Loretta Lynn (I think the most popular one to date!). I wanted to say thanks to all of you for being my first readers, and for the suggestions and support. Here’s the piece. Thanks for reading!
Great writing! Congratulations on being published!
